Things to do in Symi

Annual Symi Festival (Local Culture)

The annual Symi festival, held from July to September, is an important cultural event on the island. Theatre, open-air cinema, dance, traditional and classical music, literary and art exhibitions are all included in the summer programme.

Hiking on Symi (Walking)

Pack some strong walking shoes and a sun hat because Symi is a hiker's paradise and the best way to uncover the island's many treasures is on foot. If you're planning on doing some serious walking consider visiting in the spring or autumn because telperatures on the island are almost the highest in Greece. You'll also avoid the high season hordes that flock here daily from neighbouring Rhodes in July and August.

Simi is a unique island with rare architectural tradition and therefore was declared as a conservation village.

The main port on the east side of the island is located in a quiet bay surrounded by hundreds of homes with mediterranean colours like indigo, ochre and terracotta, which are living the impression of calmness versus the rugged and imposing cliffs of the island. At the entrance of the harbour there is the impressive clock tower.

The beaches of Symi island are bluegreen, small and full of the charm of the Aegean Sea. Symi has an area of 8 square kilometers and is home to more than 200 churches and monasteries
